Unless you’re really into the idea of a kaiju dating sim that is actually just a set of trial-and-error multiple choice quizzes with nice animation, there’s no reason to take Gigachu on a world tour of destructive dates. Even still, it’s not something I’d recommend to the majority of people. Pixel Puzzle Makeout League is a game Ive been dreaming about for a long timemixing pixel puzzles with a heartfelt story about dating a cast of puzzle-themed superheroes. A modest Kickstarter success, this was never pitched to be a massive, huge game. Go on dates with a cast of pun-flinging puzzles personified in this sentimental superhero adventure. To a degree, Kaichu is what it set out to be. Go to that previous save and then, well, replay the same exact questions you likely already saw more than once already. Your option after that point? Pick up from a previous save. Flubbing questions will progress a broken heart meter that if filled, ends the game. It gets worse if you actually fail a romance. And the whole game is essentially six different sets of the same dates with different kaiju. Within 20 minutes of playing, I saw repeated questions. This could be a side effect of working from home or just getting older (my wife would argue it’s the latter). After playing a few hours (and opening up some routes), my brain felt tired. Some of the cutscenes look straight from an anime, but it’s not a game that you can rush through. Also, while most of the game art is cute, I found the route-end splash screen closeups of characters kissing or making googly eyes at each other veered into the. 8.5 / 10 Nintendo World Report I can’t remember the last time I felt a game was so directly aimed at my interests. Your preferences are configured to warn you when images may be sensitive. Don't warn me again for Pixel Puzzle Makeout League. The puzzles are awesome, the world is wild, and the story is engrossing. may not be appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work. Everything is in the writing, which is amusing but repetitive and straightforward. Pixel Puzzle Makeout League is gleefully, entirely itself. Reviews Pixel Puzzle Makeout League does one of the best jobs I’ve seen of fusing pixel puzzles with another genre. Issues abound when over the course of several dates, you start to see questions repeat and it sets in that these cute segments of question and answer-while watching two monsters smash Mount Rushmore to bits and maybe kiss at the end-are all there is to Kaichu. Clues to the kaiju’s preferences can be found in the news anchor’s presentations as well as just clever application of what a giant bird might prefer. They’re compatibility questions where you have to answer correctly as to what the volcano kaiju’s favorite animal is or if they prefer a younger or older partner. When you go on these dates with one of six different kaiju, all you do is answer multiple choice prompts that have a great, okay, and bad response. The setup is amusing, presenting two news anchors relaying the events of playable character Gigachu pairing up with another beast and going on dates destroying world monuments like the Statue of Liberty and the Great Wall of China. Gameplay for Pixel Puzzle Makeout League on Switch. With a name as silly as Pixel Puzzle Makeout League, you wouldnt expect it to be as fantastic of a puzzle. Unfortunately, Kaichu is repetitive and flat, with the only saving grace being the comedy of the premise and presentation. Surely Kaichu, a game in which you control a kaiju trying to date another kaiju, would be eclectic and weird and silly. #Pixel puzzle makeout league review simulatorSo when a kaiju dating simulator was on the horizon for Switch, my ears perked up. Deepest apologies.High-concept dating simulators are typically my entrypoint into the genre, whether it’s Pixel Puzzle Makeout League’s pairing with Picross or Boyfriend Dungeon’s mingling with dungeon crawling. Dating fits in amongst the storytelling and puzzle-solving too, and it’s. The news here might be a little old to you as a result. It’s a shame you can’t set a difficulty level at the outset to ensure all puzzles are appropriate for your skill level. Hey all, getting this out to you unfortunately fell through the cracks and that is entirely my fault.
